SOCIAL MEDIA BUZZ: Social media is often a place for fun and information exchange. And some of the posts attract much more attention than others. From texts, photos and videos that unite people to others that stir debate, social media simply have us hooked.
In this edition of social media buzz, The Pearl Times looks at the debate that popular TikToker and influencer Aine Bintu’s leaked — or rather released — video has stirred.
First, The Pearl Times has tracked the origin of Aine Bintu video from a conversation in which a social media user asked followers if they could share photos of themselves in pink.
Aine Bintu shared a video of herself in pink. In the short video, she was dancing and shaking what her mama gave her.
Before she shared the short video, Aine Bintu asked, “Are you guys sleeping?”
Social media never sleeps — for since she shared the video, The Pearl Times has learnt, it has been viewed by hundreds of thousands on microblogging site X.
And the people have been commenting. Some of the comments are enriching for the debate on people feeling comfortable in one’s own skin.
See, some people concentrated on what they called terraces in the part that Aine Bantu was shaking, with some comparing it to potholes on Salaama Road or highlands and lowlands.
One even had the guts to ask if her Hepatitis jab was done with a syringe used on cows.
Aine Bintu was bold in her defence.
“Whoever is @bus!ng my potholes show me a pic of you showing me your back ! I want to see something,” she dared.
“Y’all really hate to see a natural b0dy coming.”
Yet others commenters shifted the debate forward and seemed to encourage people being comfortable in their skins.
“People do these things everyday, confident people and people that wanna show off their gorgeous b0d!es. Now what I don’t understand is why people are acting like this is abnormal??” asked a one Kassia.
So, we want to ask, “is there anything wrong with people like Aine Bintu being comfortable in their skin? Potholes or no potholes, what did Aine Bintu do wrong?”
