Adrine Kobusingye Elected New NRM Women’s League Chairperson

Kobusingye Replaces , Replacing Lydia Wanyoto

Adrine Kobusingye Domaro has been elected the new NRM Women’s League Chairperson, replacing Lydia Wanyoto.

Kobusingye comfortably won with the support of nearly two thousand delegates at the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) national conference in the capital Kampala.

Lydia Wanyoto withdrew from the race, allowing Adrine Kobusingye to have a clear path forward to victory.

Remaining in the race were Faridah Kibowa, Sarah Ochieng, Faridah Nakalawo and Rehema Kyanika.

Adrine Kobusingye secured  1839 votes, ahead of Faridah Kibowa who got 670 votes.

Sarah Ochieng managed 19 votes, Faridah Nakalawo got three while Rehema Kyanika got only two votes.

According to her profile on her official campaign website, Adrine Kobusingye describes herself as “a passionate leader, philanthropist, and seasoned businesswoman from Bushenyi District.”

“With a strong background in Development Studies from Makerere University and deep roots in community service, Adrine is committed to empowering Ugandan women to thrive politically, socially, and economically,” her profile further reads.

“Her campaign is grounded in transformational leadership, inclusive development, and the belief that when women rise, communities prosper. Through entrepreneurship, mentorship, and leadership development, Adrine envisions a Uganda where women are central to shaping the nation’s future.”

She has held positions such as Board Chairperson of Igara Growers Tea FactoryNRM Secretary Publicity Secretary for Bushenyi District Women League, Founding Chairperson of the Igara-Buhweju Tea Farmers Sacco (IGABU) and as Board Member of the Uganda Hotel Owners’ Association (UHOA).

Other roles included Vice Chairperson and Board Member of the Community Alternative Development Organisation (CAD), and Secretary for Finance for the Parish Council (Kyamuhunga Catholic Church). She is also a “proud Rotarian at Major Donor (MD) Level” for the RC Upper Kololo.

Reacting to her victory, Adrine Kobusingye wrote, “thank you for believing in me.”
