The Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), through the Education Service Commission (ESC), has released lists with names of 7800 graduate teachers shortlisted for aptitude tests for government payroll jobs in seed schools.
The shortlisted candidates were drawn from the tens of thousands who responded to external advert number three of 2025 that was sent out in December 2025 and February 2026.
The candidates who were shortlisted for aptitude tests are graduates, and those who will be successful will hold the position of education officer.
“The Secretary Education Service Commission informs applicants who responded to the ESC Advert No. 3/2025 for schools built under the Uganda Inter-Government Fiscal Transfer Program (UGIFT/3) FY 2025/2026 which appeared in The New Vision and The Monitor Newspapers on 22nd December 2025 and 2nd February 2026, for the posts of EDUCATION OFFICER that the shortlists are ready for viewing,” announced Mohammed Kaaya, the acting secretary to the Education Service Commission, while releasing the lists dated Friday, 08 May 2026.
More lists are expected to be released, with full schedules for aptitude tests.
“The Shortlists displayed are for applicants for the post of EDUCATION OFFICER under Clusters 1, 2, and Part of 3, who will be subjected to Aptitude Tests as per attached Schedule,” noted Kaaya.
“The shortlists, dates and venues for conducting Aptitude Tests for the remaining Clusters i.e. Cluster 4, 5 and Part of Cluster 3 plus those who applied online will be communicated very soon.”
He also added that the Education Service Commission would release the lists and aptitude schedule for diploma holders who applied for assistant education officer jobs in secondary seed schools.
“The shortlists and dates for conducting Aptitude Tests for the posts of ASSISTANT EDUCATION OFFICER and NON-TEACHING STAFF under Clusters 1,2, and 3 will be communicated,” Kaaya noted.
The acting ESC secretary also shared information the key dates and venue for the aptitude tests as well as rules for those who are going to sit the tests.
“The Aptitude Test is scheduled to take place at College of Computing and Information Sciences Makerere University from Wednesday 13th May 2026 to Saturday 16th May 2026 starting at 8.00 am each day,” he said.
“All Shortlisted applicants MUST appear for the Aptitude Tests as scheduled and MUST come along with National Identity Cards.
All Mothers who intend to come with their babies should come along with baby sitters. Babies will not be allowed in the Examination Rooms.”
Kaaya also had a message for applicants who are not the lists: “Those whose names do not appear on the shortlist under Clusters 1, 2, and Part of 3 for the post of EDUCATION OFFICER attached in the Schedule, should consider themselves unsuccessful.”

As part of efforts to distance the Education Service Commission from acts of bribery levelled against some officials, Kaaya reminded teachers that “all services by the Education Service Commission are free of charge.”
