Youth delegates are voting for youth MPs across the country. The youth MP elections 2026 are being held at different regional locations. The Pearl Times is following up on the elections.
For Eastern Uganda, over 2,000 delegates are voting for their MP at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in Mbale City.
The race has attracted six candidates, including Wanyama Judas Thadeo of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Simon Wandukwa Gyabi of National Unity Platform (NUP), and Ivan Masawi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
Others are independent candidates Timothy Kavunike Kadaga, Emmanuel Omara and Josephine Nambozo.
Several youths were arrested at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in Mbale after they were accused of using forged delegate cards.
In Northern Uganda – which comprises Lango, Acholi, Karamoja and West Nile – youth delegates have gathered at Mvara Secondary School in Arua City to vote their MP.
There were delays as the youths insisted they would not vote without being paid facilitation from the Electoral Commission (EC).
They say the EC had promised to give them Shs600,000 and swore they would not start voting until they got the money.
They also complained about delays in accreditation as delegates.
Voting has since started after the issues were resolved.
The race for Northern Youth MP is between NRM’s Elma Chala Kapel and Elizabeth Shakira Wacha of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC).
In Western Uganda, there have been complaints of alleged voter bribery, which the complainants said was as massive.
Taking place at Ntare School in Mbarara City, voting was interrupted by rain. The exercise later resumed.
Over 2000 delegates are voting in a race that has attracted nine candidates, including Mwine Tumwebaze Kirimi of the NRM, and independent candidates Reinold Mujuni, Dennis Musinguzi and Babra Nakandi Amooti.

In the race for the Central Uganda youth MP, delegates are voting at the Masaka Sports Arena in the race that includes candidates Sam Begira of the NRM, Churchill Ssentamu, Gloria Nawanyanga, Tonny Jjagwe, Andrew Baale, and Edward Kulabako.
