The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University, has released the admission list of candidates admitted under the Disability and District Quota Schemes with Government sponsorship 2025-26 Academic Year.
The district quota scheme list shows students admitted per district and the cutoffs scored.
In Uganda, the district quota system in Uganda is a government sponsorship policy aimed at increasing access to university education for brilliant students who are cannot afford the costs of private education.
Established in 2004, the district quota system sees a given number of students from each district awarded scholarships to Uganda’s public universities.
The district quota scheme is just one of the government scholarship schemes, all of which have up to 4,000 slots or offers.
Every year, the national merit scheme get up to 75 per cent of the 4,000 government scholarships given to best performing students in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams.
The district quota system scheme gets nearly 900 slots.
The talented sports persons scheme gets about 40 scholarships while the special needs or disability scheme gets about 60 slots.
