
Kenya’s president William Samoei Ruto’s head was hit with a shoe at a rally , disrupting the meeting on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
Ruto was speaking to residents in Kehancha area of Kuria West in Migori County when an individual hurled a shoe at him.

The person who hurled the shoe at Ruto, the occupant of the country’s highest office, was part of the crowd attending the rally.
The moment Ruto was hit with a shoe at a rally on his tour of Migori County was captured in a brief video that is making rounds on social media.
Police officers in Kuria West, Migori County, have arrested three individuals suspected of throwing a shoe at President William Ruto while he was addressing residents of the Kehancha area on Sunday.
At the moment the shoe landed on Ruto’s head, he was addressing the issue of plans to cut the cost of farm input for farmers in Kehancha.
As the words “tupunguze gharama ya” rolled out of President Ruto’s mouth, a shoe came flying at him, hitting his head.
The president’s security team swung in action, rushing to the stage to ensure that the head of state was not harmed.
The shoe hurling incident disrupted the rally for a few minutes.
Reports suggest that at least three suspects have been arrested in connection with the daring incident.
Security operatives investigating the matter are said to be treating it as a politically motivated act that could have been planned by a group of people.
