President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has appointed Jessica Rose Epel Alupo Uganda’s Vice President, replacing Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi.

Alupo will become Uganda’s second female vice president after Specioza Wandira Kazibwe.

But who exactly is Madam Vice President Jessica Alupo? Here is a quick look at her profile.

1997: Graduated with Bachelor of Arts Degree (Linguistics and Political Science) – Makerere University

Married to Major Innocent Tukashaba

Taught at Katakwi High School

Instructor at the Uganda Urban Warfare Training School, Singo, Nakaseke District

Served as an intelligence officer for Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI)

2001: Elected Katakwi District Woman MP (on NRM ticket)

2006: Re-elected Katakwi Woman MP

2008: Master of Arts Degree International Relations and Diplomacy (Makerere University)

2008: Diploma in Public Administration and Management (Uganda Management Institute – UMI)

2009: Appointed state minister for youth and children affairs

2010: Master’s Degree Public Administration and Management (Makerere University)

2011: Re-elected Katakwi Woman MP

2011: Appointed Minister of Education and Sports replacing Geraldine Namirembe Bitamazire

2016: Lost Parliamentary election, dropped from cabinet

2021: Elected Katakwi Woman MP
