Electoral Commission (EC) has approved twenty symbols that will be used by independent candidates during the nomination exercise ahead of 2021 general elections.
Justice Simon Byabakama, the EC Chairperson has said that these symbols shall be used by independent candidates in all categories.
Symbols will help independent candidates contesting as Presidential candidates, Parliamentary, and all local government council elections.
Symbols approved by EC are; A Bicycle, a pot, a clock, a chair, a saucepan, a table, a cup, a radio, a ball, a mobile phone, a television set, a boat, a bunch of matooke, a loudspeaker, a tree, a house, a motor vehicle, a candle and a jerry can.
Byabakama said that candidates who subscribe to registered political parties shall be given symbols of their respective political parties.
Nomination for local council candidates started on September 21, and it will end on October 01.
Members of Parliament will be nominated between October 12 and 13, while Presidential candidates will be nominated on November 02 and 03.
