17 health workers in Mbarara test positive of Covid-19

Mbarara regional referral hospital director Dr. Celestine Barigye has confirmed that the hospital has recorded 17 health workers in Mbarara with Covid-19.

Dr Barigye said this number is cumulative from May 16th to date after the first case was recorded at the hospital.

While addressing media in his office on Friday, Dr Barigye said of the victims, 4 are doctors, one is clinical officer, apharmacist, seven nurses, three nursing students.

Dr Barigye said on September 7th one died of Covid, 13 recovered while three are getting treatment at home.

One of the health workers was managing covid-19 patients at the isolation centre while the rest are community transmissions.

Dr Barigye warned all health workers to be extra careful while on duty because they are at high risk.

Mbarara regional referral hospital has so far registered 140 cases where 109 have been successful discharged successfully 109, 4 have died while 29 are still under treatment since its first admission on 16th may 2020.
