10 MONTHS LATER: Kadaga Goes to Parliament for the First Time Since She Lost Speaker Election to Jacob Oulanyah

Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has stepped at Parliament for the first time since she lost the speaker election to Jacob Oulanyah about 10 months ago. 

In May 2021, Kadaga lost to Oulanyah in the speaker race. (Read Story Here).

She was later appointed first deputy prime minister and minister for East African Community Affairs. (Read Story Here).

Kadaga did not show up for any sitting presided over by Oulanyah or even his deputy Anita Among.

But she was present as Oulanyah’s successor was elected at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala.

Kadaga’s absence has even made some MPs ask Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to explain why the Kamuli Woman MP is always absent yet she is supposed to be in the House both as MP and minister.

On March 30, Kadaga came to Parliament to sign in the condolence book.

“I want to thank him for the support and collaboration over the last 10 years , not only at the local level but the ACPEU, he liked doing research, enjoyed his work and was committed,” Kadaga wrote about Oulanyah.
