YOU WON’T BUY OFF ALL ‘PROTESTERS’: Bobi Wine Tells Museveni as Kunga Protests ‘Begin’

Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the National Unity Platform (NUP) president, has predicted the end of President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s rule, saying Ugandans will soon take bold steps to sink the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.

On July 25, security was heavily deployed around Kampala, the Ugandan capital, in anticipation of protests against rising commodity prices and high cost of living. The protesters reportedly had other motives (including seeking to ensure that the demos get to a level where Museveni and his government fall, according to security agencies monitoring the situation.

Now, Bobi Wine says that he hopes time will come when Ugandan protesters will be bold enough to lead and sustain efforts to end Museveni’s rule. When this time comes, Bobi Wine continued, the leaders will be left with no option but to follow members of the public.

“Time will come when people start leading themselves, not following politicians. In fact it’ll be the people leading, the leaders following. It will mark the end of the Museveni regime,” wrote Bobi Wine.

The singer-turned-politician reminded Museveni that he would not be able to buy off all the Ugandans who will rise to remove him from power the way he has been ‘buying off’ some politicians.

“He survives by buying off leaders of the oppressed. This time the people will be too many to buy off,” predicted Kyagulanyi.

Bobi Wine made the remarks hours after police and other security agencies fired tear gas and live bullets as they battled Kunga protesters in Jinja City. (Read Story Here).
