Why Museveni Has Forgiven Over 100 Convicted Thieves and Other Criminals

President Yoweri Museveni has pardoned 130 convicts, including those who were serving sentences for manslaughter and theft. 

Other pardoned prisoners had been serving sentences for assault, malicious damage, house breaking, unlawful possession of wildlife species, burglary, possession of opium, causing death by reckless driving, and obtaining money by false pretense.

“In accordance with Article 121 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, H.E the president has granted pardon to a total of 130 convicted minor offenders,” said rank Baine Mayanja, the Uganda Prisons Service spokesperson.

“All the pardoned prisoners have since been released.”

The 130 convicts were released on heath and humanitarian grounds. Here is the list of pardoned prisoners:
