2026 Elections

VOTE OUT ‘OBUSAJJA!’ Museveni Campaigns Against Bobi Wine’s Buganda MPs in His State of the Nation Address

All attempts to destabilise Uganda (by internal and external actors) have been thwarted and defeated -- Museveni

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni used his 2025 state of the nation address to campaign against Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s Buganda MPs and other opposition legislators.

Referring to the opposition MPs from areas like Mityana and Nakaseke as ‘obusajja sajja obutalina makulu,’ Museveni urged voters not to reelect such politicians to represent them in Parliament.

As he read out some completed, ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects, Museveni would address the people of particular areas in their language and then blast them for voting the opposition.

Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) has most of its MPs from Buganda or central region.

It eclipsed Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to become the main opposition party in the 2021 general elections in which Bobi Wine gave Museveni political headache with his ‘umbrella’ wave.

Museveni previously claimed that Bobi Wine stole his votes in Buganda. (See Details Here and There).

Bobi Wine and his NUP are also threatening to use the protest vote campaign to capture more MP seats and the presidency in 2026.

Museveni also blasted the opposition for allegedly pushing for foreign interests.

“Therefore, the careerists who only think of themselves, should check themselves. They should not spoil the effort of the patriots,” said Museveni.

“Here, I do not have to talk about the negative opposition elements that work for the foreign interests and for the parasitic local interests. Those have failed to block our progress. It is the internal mistakes that must be corrected.”

He also said that attempts to destabilize Uganda had failed.

“It is paramount to jealously guard Uganda’s political and economic stability. All attempts to destabilise Uganda (by internal and external actors), have been thwarted and defeated. We welcome mutual and nonparasitic collaboration with everyone. Uganda’s priorities and interests are very clear; and, therefore, our allies must respect and uphold them, in all their dealings with us,” the president noted.

“The Patriotic leadership, in charge of the Country’s affairs, cannot deviate from its historical mission, to defend and transform Uganda and Africa, on account of threats, by some of our allies, who misunderstand our goals and methods of work.”
