VIDEO: MP Hellen Nakimuli’s Last Words in Parliament

Last Speech on Floor of Parliament

Kalangala District Woman MP Hellen Nakimuli has died. According to Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Nakimuli died after an unsuccessful surgery.  In this report, The Pearl Times looks at MP Hellen Nakimuli’s last words in Parliament in her last appearance on the floor of the House.

During the parliamentary plenary sitting on April 15, 2026, Nakimuli reacted to a report by government’s education and sports ministry on Hoima City Stadium.

Nakimuli was unhappy with the report. She accused the minister of sports of failing to touch on the specifics of the questions raised by the leader of opposition in parliament.

“I want to thank the sports minister for that elaborate report. But Madam Speaker, if I recall correctly, what the LOP addressed us here is not what he is responding to. You are simply giving us a general report,” Nakimuli said.

“But he [LOP] specified about eight areas which you have not hinted on.”

She wanted to know if government would be able to fulfill CAF’s recommendations within the period leading to August 2026.

“Firstly, like you said, we have a deadline of August. CAF is coming back in August. You have said government has done this and that. Have you given us a deadline on when these things are going to be done?” Nakimuli asked.

“Because CAF is going to come and inspect in August. Will this time be enough for us to be ready, especially in Hoima?”

Nakimuli also wanted to know why the government had failed to do its work regarding preparations for hosting CAF alongside other East African countries.

“Then secondly, Madam Speaker, the issues entailed in the LOP’s presentation, for example, the stands, the benches, which are obstructing the VIP,” she submitted.

“Have you handled that in your report? And then also, Madam Speaker, I want to ask the minister, the contractor you got, why didn’t you get professionals to work on this pitch and to approve? And the plan you have, why didn’t you share with CAF? Because they are the ones who are supposed to inspect. Where did you get the plan you used for Hoima City Stadium? And allow me to give him information. Thank you.”
