Gen Moses Ali
A video of a man being rushed away at what appears to be a public event in Uganda is trending online, and some think the man being carried away is Gen Moses Ali, Uganda’s deputy prime minister and Adjumani West MP. The video has been shared across the world as showing that the man being carried away is Gen Moses Ali.
In this Fact Check report, The Pearl Times looks at the facts behind the trending video. Is that really Gen Moses Ali being rushed away – and did he faint during a public event?
The man in a yellow shirt and a kofia. In some of Gen Moses Ali’s pictures, he has previously been seen dressed as such.
Gen Moses Ali was previously seen shaking but the man in the video seemed to be trying to wrestle free from those rushing him away (men in suits, believed to be part of the presidential security team).
The man in the video also seems a bit stronger than Gen Moses Ali has been seen in recent months. It also would be unusual for security officers to handle a deputy prime minister at a public event, not to talk about how frail Gen Moses Ali has appeared in public.
On if Gen Moses Ali had fainted, the man in the video seemed to have had a disagreement and was being rushed away from the venue — probably attempted to beat presidential security to get to the head of state.
The Pearl Times Fact Check desk verdict? There is no evidence to prove that the man in the video is Gen Moses Ali, and the security officers seemed to have been carrying him away.
