Maj Gen Eric Mukasa is the third UPDF officer to die this week after Brig Gen Victor Maregano Twesigye and Brig Gen Jackson Bell Tushabe.
On Tuesday, Brig Gen Jackson Bell Tushabe succumbed to multiple organ failure following an operation at Nakasero Hospital.
BRIG GEN JACKSON BELL TUSHABE
Brig Gen Tushabe was 61.
He joined the National Resistance Army (NRA) rebels in 1982. He was number RO/0079.
His comrades say he was a fierce daredevil in the league of the late Jet Mwebaze, Patrick Lumumba, and Matayo Kyaligonza.
Former comrade, and now opposition leader, Dr Kizza Besigye, said government had neglected Tushabe.
“Sad! I hadn’t seen or heard of this brave NRA fighter for about two decades,” Besigye wrote.
“Last time I heard of him, he was on ‘katebe’ – undeployed and dejected/ostracized. It seems his situation didn’t change!”
A sports lover, he supported Express FC and was Victor FC patron.
Tushabe had served as commander of the Gulu Fourth Division, Mbale Third Division and Mbarara Second Division.
Out of government employment, he reportedly joined fishing.
BRIG GEN VICTOR MAREGANO TWESIGYE
On Thursday, the UPDF confirmed the death of Brig Gen Twesigye. He was Uganda’s Defence liaison officer at EAC headquarters in Arusha Tanzania.
Twesigye slid to his death in his bathroom at Nyarushanje, Kisiizi in Rukungiri District.
MAJ GEN ERIC MUKASA
Maj Mukasa was Chief of Staff of the Reserve Forces. He passed on at Nakasero Hospital Thursday morning.
