Tell Muhoozi the Truth or Coil Your Tail: Lukwago Blasts Norbert Mao after Eddie Mutwe Statement

Kampala Capital City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has told off Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Nobert Mao, trashing his statement on Eddie Mutwe as a lamentation.

Hours after Edward Ssebuuufu popularly known as Eddie Mutwe, a bodyguard to main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, was dumped at Masaka court, arraigned and remanded, Norbert Mao issued a statement in which he seemed to suggest that Eddie Mutwe and other tortured suspects should be released unconditionally.

In recent years, another layer of illegal authority seems to have been added, dwarfing police and its role of keeping law and order, and elevating a military group that seems unaccountable to anyone.

While suspects are supposed to be arrested by police and taken to courts, nowadays, it is not uncommon for military operatives to abduct people, especially those belonging to the opposition, detain them for days or even weeks and months, then dump them at a court of law.

In the Eddie Mutwe case, as The Pearl Times has reported, first son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba revealed that he was holding Eddie Mutwe in his basement and that Bobi Wine’s bodyguard was learning Runyankore.

Also, Gen Muhoozi has threatened to ch0p of Bobi Wine’s he@d and to hang Dr Kizza Besigye, as reported Here and There.

It is that excessive exercise of power to intimidate and harass political opponents that Lukwago expected Minister Norbert Mao to address in his statement on Eddie Mutwe.

Lukwago, who is also the acting leader of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), also wanted Mao to clearly tell Muhoozi the truth about his acts of persecuting government critics and disregard of the laws of the land as well as judicial procedures.

Yet, Lukwago noted, Minister Norbert Mao used his lengthy statement on Eddie Mutwe to lament.

Lukwago advised Mao to  boldly condemn and call out Muhoozi or keep quiet and eat his “freebies” as a minister who may not have the powers to do his job but rather a position to fill and enjoy himself.

“Oftentimes we’re accused of simply ‘lamenting’ at such heinous acts but in his freaky lamentations the whole Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs feared to condemn, let alone speak about the culpability of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba in this lengthy document!” noted Lukwago.

“Bwana Mao invoke your powers and reprimand Gen Muhoozi and other perpetrators of these acts of savagery or just c0il your t@il and relish your freebies!”
