On December 16, 2022, Uganda sent its first silk yarn brand samples, branded Usilk, for testing in European market. The target was to meet the specifications for Grade 6A, the best quality silk globally, as a basis for commercial production. Usilk did not make it to the highest grade, which accounts for only between one and three per cent of global silk production.
