Police say American national Guy Smith is in detention at Special Investigations Division office in Kireka following his arrest from Fort Portal City on charges of subversion.
SID operatives arrested Smith on March 21.
A statement by police says investigations into Smith’s activities continues.
“A task team from the Special Investigations Division, arrested Guy Smith, an American National, on the 21.03.2021, from Fort Portal for his alleged involvement in Anti government subversive activities,” said police spokesperson Fred Enanga.
“He remains in custody at SID, Kireka, as inquiries continue. Any new information will be communicated accordingly.”
Operatives picked Smith from Fort Portal on March 21, and reportedly drove him in a ‘drone’ car.
Smith has lived in Uganda for over 20 years.
Aged 63, he is a retired builder from Kentucky.
