Milly Babirye Babalanda, the Presidency minister and chairperson of the national organizing committee for the burial of the late Jacob Oulanyah, has told Ugandans to stop traumatizing the bereaved family with complaints on the huge budget for the speaker’s burial.
As we reported earlier, government will spend Shs2.5bn on Oulanyah’s burial. (Read Story Here).
The huge budget has left some Ugandans complaining. Some have wondered why the government doesn’t invest such big amounts of money it spends on burials in improving the healthcare system.
But Minister Babalanda says the big figure doesn’t matter.
She further urged Ugandans to stop complaining about the figure since doing so would traumatize the family.
“Regarding the budget for burying Rt. Hon. Oulanyah, what matters is not the figures but the activities involved and status of the deceased,” wrote Babalanda.
“Let us avoid traumatising the family in this trying time.”
