Kira Municipality MP and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda says that Mityana Municipality MP Francis Butebi Zaake was not the right person for a commissioner of parliament job.
Days ago, Parliament removed Zaake from his position as commissioner. (Read Story Here).
Now, according to Ssemujju, Zaake should never have been appointed as commissioner of parliament.
“In the future, we need to be very careful with people we send to the Parliamentary Commission,” the FDC MP told NBS Morning Breeze.
“I like Zaake as an individual, but I don’t think he is most suitable to be a Commissioner.”
But he said he was confident leader of opposition in parliament, Mathias Mpuuga (Nyendo-Mukungwe – NUP), would ably deal with the situation at hand.
“On the Zaake issue, I trust that Hon. Mpuuga will handle it well, and I hope his party gives him the support he needs,” he said.
Ssemujju went on to warn NUP against re-sending Zaake’s name for reappointment as parliament commissioner.
“I have heard my colleagues in NUP say they will bring back Hon Zaake’s name; it doesn’t work that way,” he said.
He further faulted the Kamwokya-based party for siding with enemies of FDC.
“One of the mistakes NUP made was to look for people who were hostile to FDC. It was a mistake for NUP to appoint Hon. Mapenduzi. It’s now up to them, and I wish them well,” he argued.
