The Parliamentary Commission has agreed to a proposal by Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda to have the elections for speaker and deputy speaker of the 11th Parliament postponed.
Dr Rugunda had told the Parliamentary Commission, chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, that political parties needed more time to organize caucuses to choose flag bearers for the two positions.

Now, reports indicate that the Commission agreed to an extension of three days.
This would mean extending the election from May 21 to May 24.
