A 38-year-old Ugandan gospel singer and music producer was found dead inside his recording studio in Lira City on Friday, October 16, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances of his death.
Sam Lolo was discovered at Sunrise Studio in Wigweng Cell, Ojwina Ward, in Lira City West Division, where he worked as a music producer. According to preliminary information, he had been attending to a client earlier in the evening before asking the person to leave at about 5 p.m.

Police believe Lolo subsequently shut himself inside the studio, where his body was later found hanging. Investigators are working to establish the circumstances that led to his death.
The police account also points to difficulties the musician was reportedly experiencing in the months before the incident. Lolo, who was known as a born-again Christian, had allegedly turned to excessive alcohol consumption after abandoning his faith in May 2026.
He was also reportedly showing signs of depression, according to information contained in the police report. However, investigators have yet to establish whether these reported struggles played any role in his death.
Following the discovery, police officers from Lira City West Division visited the studio to investigate the scene and gather information from people who might help clarify what happened.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Region police spokesperson, said the initial police response involved examining the location where Lolo was found and documenting relevant evidence.
He said investigators had also obtained statements from witnesses to support the ongoing inquiry.
Beyond the investigation, Okema urged people dealing with emotional distress or personal problems to reach out to people they trust, including relatives and friends, or seek assistance from health professionals and relevant support services.
He also called on the public to be considerate towards people going through difficult periods, stressing the importance of offering support and encouraging them to obtain professional help where necessary.
Police investigations into Lolo’s death are ongoing.
