Janet Kobusingye, the proprietor of Mestil Hotel in Kampala, has told parliament’s Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (Cosase) that she does not have the purchase agreement and receipts for the land where the hotel is built.
On February 09, Kobusingye appeared before Cosase, chaired by Joel Ssenyonyi (Nakawa West – NUP) to answer queries on how she acquired four acres of land in Nsambya.
The land in question belonged to Uganda Railways Corporation (URC).
When tasked to produce receipts and the land purchase agreement, Kobusingye told Ssenyonyi and his colleagues that these were burnt in a fire.
The added that the fire which destroyed these vital documents had gutted her properties in downtown Kampala.
When she recently appeared before the same committee, Kobusingye said she needed more money for he land. (Read Story and more background Here).
