The territorial traffic police at Kayabwe has today, November 17, 2022, registered an incident of fire at a place called Jandira in Kayabwe Town Council in Mpigi District along Kampala-Masaka Highway.
According to ASP Faridah Nampiima, the Public Relations of Officer (spokesperson) for Uganda Police Force (UPF) Traffic and Road Safety Directorate, the incident happened at around 0840hrs when Motor vehicle Registration Number UAS 066Q, a Range Rover Sport blue caught fire.
The vehicle which caught fire was being driven by Joshua Emorut Egweu, a resident of Mutungo, Nakawa Division in Kampala, who was headed towards Masaka.
On the cause of the Kayabwe fire accident, ASP Nampiima said: “It is alleged that the car developed a mechanical fault and smoke began fuming from the engine. This prompted the driver to park off the road upon being alerted by other motorists. Efforts by the locals to put off the fire went futile and the car burnt to ashes.”
