President Yoweri Museveni has appointed former Kampala deputy lord mayor Sarah Kanyike as Minister of State for Disability and Elderly.
Last month, Museveni had appointed Kanyike as Kampala Capital City Authority as director gender, community service, and production.
Kanyike was supposed to replace Harriet Mudondo, but her name was knocked off the list sent for approval by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
It has now emerged that President Museveni had informed PSC of Kanyike’s nomination for a junior ministerial job.
Back at KCCA, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago had given the Makindye East three days to choose between the deputy lord mayor position and the KCCA director job.
Kanyike would later settle for a Museveni appointment. Lukwago replaced her with Makerere University Councillor Doreen Nyanjura.

Acting Clerk to Parliament Paul G Wabwire has written to all members of the Appointments Committee informing them of Kanyike’s nomination as State Minister for Disability and Elderly Affairs.
Wabwire also invited Committee members for Kanyike’s vetting scheduled for July 28 at 10am.
Kanyike will work under Minister Frank Tumwebaze in the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MoGLSD).
