Wilson Ahimbisa, the Director of Ibanda University in Western Uganda, has died after a short illness, the private university located in Ibanda Municipality has announced.
Ahimbisa was also the director of Alliance Secondary School in Ibanda, Alliance Vocational School, Cheetah Security Company, among other business entities.
Ahimbisa was the Chairperson of the Human Resource Sub Committee of the Ibanda University Project. He held a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree from Uganda Pentecostal University (2007-2010), and a Diploma in Education from Butare University, Rwanda (1996-1997).
Ibanda University secretary George Zombeire said Ahimbisa was pronounced dead on May 26, 2025 “after a brief illness.”
Zombeire paid tribute to Wilson Ahimbisa for his contribution and dedication to work.
“Mr. Ahimbisa was a dedicated and respected member of the Board of Directors and the university community as a whole, known for his idea of starting Ibanda University,” wrote Zombeire.
“He will be deeply missed by colleagues, students and friends. We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
According to the university secretary, a memorial service will be held at the University Grounds on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 10am to honour to honour Ahimbisa’s memory.
He will be laid to rest in Nyabikungu, Rwampara on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Ahimbisa was recently at a ceremony to inaugurate former police chief Kale Kayihura and other members of the Ibanda University Governing Council, as reported Here.
