At least 19 Ugandan traders were killed in a Fuso truck accident in Kigorobya in Bunyoro region’s Hoima District.
Up to 13 other traders survived death but sustained serious injuries in the same accident that happened along the Hoima-Buliisa Road, according to Albertine regional police.
The deceased 19 and the injured 13 were aboard Fuso truck registration number UBB 639W when the accident happened.
The traders and vendors were returning from Wanseko-Buliisa market on the night of Tuesday, August 05, 2025 at around 11pm.
The Fuso truck failed to climb a slight hill. It rolled backwards and overturned. Police have launched investigations into the accident.
The list of the deceased and the injured was yet to be released.
This is one of the latest accidents recorded in recent days, following one in which two Kampala school pupils returning from a trip died after the bus they were travelling in overturned as the driver reportedly slept. (See Details Here and There).
Recent road accidents in Uganda have been blamed on reckless driving, poor state of roads, overloading and vehicles’ dangerous mechanical conditions.
There is need to do more to improve road safety in Uganda so as to reduce on the loss of lives and injuries associated with road accidents.
A few weeks ago, one person was killed in a Gateway bus accident while a Bunyoro prince also perished in an accident in Busega. (See Details Here and There).
Months ago, a car accident killed 13 people, most of them members of the same clan returning from a Kwanjula ceremony, as reported Here.
