SAD! 16 Girls Killed in School Dormitory Fire

At least 16 students have died and more than 70 others injured after a devastating fire tore through a dormitory at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil, Nakuru County, in the early hours of Thursday, in one of the worst school tragedies Kenya has witnessed in recent years.

The fire broke out shortly after midnight while hundreds of students were asleep in the boarding section of the school. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but the blaze had already spread rapidly through the building, trapping several learners inside.

Education officials confirmed that the injured students were taken to nearby hospitals, with most of them reported to be in stable condition after treatment.
