President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has vowed to dismiss Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs) and District Health Officers (DHOs) in whose districts of jurisdiction Covid19 vaccines expire.
During his September 22 night address on Covid19, President Museveni was concerned that thousands of Covid19 vaccines were set to expire by the end of the month.
The president said that instead of spending hours at the district headquarters and loitering around, the RDCs should focus on mobilizing people to embrace Covid19.
Although Uganda has received millions of vaccine doses from the West, jab uptake remains low.
Museveni has insisted full reopening of the economy will depend on vaccine uptake.
He has now warned RDCs, CAOs and DHOs they risk losing their jobs if vaccines expire in districts of their jurisdiction.
“I direct that all RDCS, DHO, CAOs ensure all eligible for vaccination go and get [vaccinated],” said the president.
“If vaccines expire in your area, I will dismiss you.”
