President Yoweri Museveni last okayed month finance minister Matia Kasaija’s request for the appointment of his Buyanja County parliamentary opponent Paul Kyalimpa as the deputy executive director of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).
On November 24, Museveni wrote to Kasaija granting his request to appoint Kyalimpa.
Museveni insisted Kyalimpa should be subjected to all recruitment guidelines and that he should not get the job if he doesn’t qualify for it.
A week earlier, Kasaija had met Museveni in the northern Uganda city of Gulu to request him to appoint his opponent.
After seeing Museveni’s letter okaying his appointment, Kyalimpa officially pulled out of the race.
