Kayunga Deputy Resident District Commissioner(DRDC) Saimon Peter Mawerere has wished all Christians a successful Easter celebration and urged them to maintain calm amid the jubilations.
All Christians in the world kicked off celebrations to mark the death, resurrection and ascension to heaven this weekend, beginning with Good Friday when Jesus was crucified according to the holy scriptures.
Easter Sunday is the day when the son of God resurrected from the dead before he ascended to heaven and it’s regarded as one of the most important days on the Christian calendar.
Speaking to The Pearl Times, Mawerere congratulated the Christian community in the country for successfully reaching the special day before cautioning them on responsible celebration of the festivities.
He further encouraged the faithful to emulate Jesus’ commitment, love and sacrifices in their conduct so his death will not be in vain.
“On behalf of the office of RDC, Kayunga, I warmly congratulate all Christians in Uganda and across the globe for having reached these special days alive. I call upon everyone of them to celebrate carefully with calm and peace as we share the joy of Christ’s victory against pain, evil and temptations,” he said.
“We should endeavor to emulate Christ in our day to day conduct through acts of kindness, forgiveness of one another and repentence while remembering that our Lord lives in heaven.”
