Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sam Omara has died. Sam Omara was pronounced dead at about 7am at the Mulago National Referral Hospital on the morning of April 28, 2025.
He was aged 65.
Sam Omara will be remembered largely for his role as Kampala North Operations Commander at the time of fierce opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye’s walk-to-work protests.
Omara led the crack down on the 2011 protests that shook Kampala and the nation, threatening President Yoweri Museveni’s power.
When he left police, he joined former minister Capt Mike Mukula’s Arrow Security Systems Limited and was Director Operations and deputy CEO by the time of his death.
In previous interviews, Sam Omara claimed that the mafia wanted to kill him the way they ended the life of Muhammad Kirumira a vocal police officer. (See Details Here).
Sam Omara also claimed that he had rejected a Shs200m bribe by the opposition during the 2011 walk-to-work protests. (See Details Here).
