Government chief whip Thomas Tayebwa used the occasion of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) parliamentary caucus to rally fellow MPs to pray for speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah.
NRM Chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni met party MPs at the Kololo ceremonial grounds with to discuss a number of issues, including Uganda’s deployment in DRC and the successes registered so far.
The caucus came on the day the health of Speaker Oulanyah dominated social and mainstream debate.
In his remarks during the caucus meeting, GCW sought prayers for the country’s number three.
According to the office of the government chief whip, Tayebwa (NRM – Ruhinda North) made “a moving plea” during the caucus, and “requested Party Members to put their very own senior colleague and brother Rt Hon Speaker Jacob Oulanyah in prayers for a quick recovery.”
