Uganda’s deputy speaker of parliament has paid glowing tribute to the late Pope Francis for the special prayers he offered him and the resultant miracles.
Pope Francis died on Easter Monday at the age of 88. Tayebwa, who is also the Ruhinda North MP, had had chances to meet Pope Francis in the Vatican.
Tayebwa said he made a confession to Pope Francis who then made a special prayer and assured him that a miracle would happen to take away the challenge that had been troubling him for nearly a decade.
The deputy speaker has also praised Pope Francis for championing peace and for showing acts of love and kindness to the underprivileged.
“Rest with the angels, Holy Father. I will always cherish the miracles you brought into my life from the first time you gave me a special prayer at the Vatican. I’m glad God gave me a chance to confess to you on several occasions,” wrote Tayebwa.
“Your love for the underprivileged and peace for the world will always define your Papacy. May you intercede for us before our Father in Heaven.”
In a media interview, Tayebwa later revealed that the pope prayed for him to have a child after he and his wife had spent nine years trying in vain.
He would later return to the Vatican to share the good news of the miracle that was made possible with prayers from Pope Francis.
With his wife and their child, Tayebwa met with the pope who blessed the family.
