First son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba says Edward Ssebuufu aka Eddie Mutwe, bodyguard to main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, is in his basement learning Runyankore.
Eddie Mutwe has been missing for days since he was abducted. Following the abduction, it was not clear which security agency was holding Eddie Mutwe or where he was being held.
With Eddie Mutwe’s whereabouts unknown, NUP’s legal team had filed a habeas corpus application, demanding that the state produces the principal’s bodyguard dead or alive.
On Thursday, 01 May 2025, Gen Muhoozi has confirmed that his “boys” arrested Eddie Mutwe. The first son said that Eddie Mutwe salutes the photo of President Yoweri Museveni everyday before he eats his breakfast.
“He [Eddie Mutwe] is in my basement. Learning Runyankore. You [Bobi Wine] are next! I captured NUP’s military commander like a grasshopper (Nsenene). If they keep on provoking us, we shall discipline them even more,” Gen Muhoozi wrote.
“Eddie is looking very smart these days. The boys have tuned him well. He salutes Mzee’s picture every day before breakfast.”
CDF Muhoozi even claimed that Eddie Mutwe was training with him for a match with Bobi Wine and that he was also learning Runyankore.
The Chief of Defence Forces also told Bobi Wine that Eddie Mutwe’s beard was cut off.
“I can’t release Eddie now. It will be unfair to me and him. He is learning Runyankore and we are both training for Kabobi. Eddie started crying as soon as the boys grabbed him…his Runyankore is improving these days,” claimed Muhoozi.
“If you see Eddie’s head now he looks like an egg. Totally clean. The beards were the first thing the boys removed.”
