Rwanda’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has repatriated a Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) soldier identified as Pte Bakuru Muhuba, Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA) said June 13 evening.
An earlier statement by the MoD said Pte Muhuba was “intercepted on Rwandan soil in Northern Province, Burera District, Cyanika sector, Kamanyana cell, Majyambere village on Saturday.
The defence ministry further noted that Private Muhuba was intercepted by a Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) day patrol at “approximately 1445hrs.”
“He was dressed in UPDF camouflage uniform, armed with a Medium Machine Gun(MMG) with its 100 rounds, 01 Binocular, 01 cell phone and his military Identification documents,” the Saturday statement had said.
Kigali has in recent weeks intensified arrests, detentions and deportation of Ugandans.
