Museveni at the commissioning of 297 professional officer cadets at the Uganda Military Academy Kabamba.
President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s nephew was among the nearly 300 professional officer cadets that have graduated from the Uganda Military Academy, Kabamba in Mubende District.
On Friday, September 02, 2022, Museveni presided over the graduation of a total of 297 Professional Officer Cadets who had completed their training at the Uganda Military Academy Kabamba.
The professional officer cadets have been on training at Kabamba for a period of three years, according to Gen Museveni, the Commander-in-Chief of the country’s armed forces.
During the commissioning, Museveni revealed that Uganda Military Academy Kabamba, Mubende was now affiliated to Makerere University, Uganda’s largest and oldest higher learning institution.
Museveni congratulated the graduating officers and emphasized the need for the economic empowerment of officers.
“I commissioned 297 Professional Officer Cadets from the Uganda Military Academy Kabamba, which is now affiliated with Makerere University. I congratulate the officers for completing this 3-year course and thank their families for standing with them,” said Museveni after the commissioning.
“We have achieved a lot in building a professional and strong army, my clarion call, therefore, is that we also focus on the economic empowerment of the men in uniform and their families.”
Meanwhile, one of those who graduated from the military academy was Museveni’s nephew named Joshua Nkaita.
Nkaita is a son to President Museveni’s younger brother Aine Godfrey Kaguta Sodo, the man who contested in the heated Mawogola North, Sembabule District National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries in 2020.
This means that Nkaita, now a second lieutenant, calls Museveni ‘uncle.’
Nkaita’s father has now congratulated his son on this milestone.
“I congratulate my son Nkaita Joshua, who graduated yesterday among the 297 Professional Officer Cadets from Uganda Military Academy Kabamba, Mubende. Hongera Sana 2nd LT Nkaija!” wrote Sodo.
Hours after the graduation ceremony opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine blasted Museveni over salaries of UPDF officers. (See Details Here).
