PHOTOS: Bobi Wine's Home Surrounded by Military, Police Ahead of Kayunga Campaign
Military and police officers have surrounded the home of National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine in Magere, Wakiso District ahead of the singer-turned-politician’s visit to Kayunga District.
Bobi Wine was due to campaign for Harriet Nakwedde, the NUP candidate in the Kayunga District LCV byelection organized to replace Muhammad Ffeffeka Sserubogo who died weeks after taking over office.
Nakwedde faces Andrew Muwonge of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Anthony Waddimba of the Democratic Party (DP) and independent candidates Boniface Bandikubi, Majid Nyanzi, as well as Jamil Kamoga.
Bobi Wine accused President Museveni’s NRM regime of attempting to stop him from going to Kayunga to campaign for Nakwedde.
“This morning, ahead of my planned visit to Kayunga District to campaign for our flag bearer, the police and military deployed overnight around my home in an apparent attempt to block me from leaving,” claimed Bobi Wine.
