Ugandan first son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has called for protests against Parliament.
Gen Muhoozi says Parliament is very corrupt and that it has been robbing Ugandans as MPs seeks to make themselves rich.
The CDF says the protest is, among others, expected to show MPs and the institution of Parliament the power of the people or people power, a slogan associated with the main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party led by Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
According to a message shared online, Muhoozi has called on his supporters and patriots to join the demonstration on February 10, 2025.
“I, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Son of Yoweri Museveni, request all Ugandan patriots to launch a mammoth protest against Parliament. Parliament is the MOST CORRUPT institution in this country! All they do is enrich themselves and rob us!” the message read.
“The demonstration will be on the 10th of February! All power belongs to Almighty God! God dwells amongst our people. Let us teach them what people power means! God bless Uganda!!”
The message was reiterated by Muhoozi’s political organization Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) secretary general David Kabanda, himself an MP representing Kashambya County.
“All Members of PLU and supporters of our Chairman General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, we shall be staging a peaceful demonstration/protest on 10th Feb, 2025 against the irresponsible politicking of some Members of Parliament that have made it a habit to attack and tarnish the name of our Chairman. Come in big numbers,” wrote Kabanda.
Muhoozi recently threatened to arrest MPs after they summoned him over reckless comments, including on beheading Bobi Wine and hanging Dr Kizza Besigye. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has previously praised Muhoozi, saying she believes in Museveni the Father and Museveni the son. (See Details Here and There).
