Parliament Easter Bonanza: Ugandan Tax Payers Lose Over Shs50billion as Each MP Reportedly Pockets Shs100m Cash

Ugandan MPs have reportedly received one hundred million shillings (Shs100m) each in the latest cash bonanza.

There are up to 529 elected MPs in the Uganda Parliament.

This means that tax payers will spend over fifty billion shillings (over Shs50bn) on the cash award.

Reports suggest that the money was taken from a supplementary budget passed recently.

The money has reportedly been received by both opposition and ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) MPs.

Each group is said to have received the money from a separate office.

It is said that the money is meant for mobilization purposes. Over the years, Ugandan MPs have received such monies.

Ugandans have labelled parliament a house of deals.
