Parliament has been declared a crime scene as investigators combed offices of Anita Among and Clerk Adolf Mwesige. The search is being led by operatives from police’s CID.
A team of investigators on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, arrived at Parliament at around 9 a.m. in several vehicles, including an Evidence Collection Van, as part of an ongoing corruption probe involving outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.

Joint security forces sealed off parts of Parliament during the operation as investigators carried out their work.
Part of the fifth floor of Parliament was designated as a crime scene on May 19, 2026, as investigators searched the Speaker’s chambers.
It remains largely inaccessible.
Journalists have been blocked from accessing places under probe.
The operation also involved the office of the Clerk to Parliament, which was among the offices sealed off.
Investigators were reported to be gathering additional evidence in the ongoing corruption probe involving outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.
It was not clear if Anita Among was at parliament but some reports claimed that she had been driven there to witness the search.
Even in a suspect’s absence, investigators can search a premise in the presence of one’s lawyer(s).
Indeed, Anita Among’s lawyer Caleb Alaka was spotted entering the parliament building, and he told reporters a statement would be issued later in the day to correct false reports making rounds online and in mainstream media.
Operatives are said to be interested in some files as they continue to gather evidence to back up allegations that Anita Among was engaged in money laundering and illicit enrichment.
The operation at Parliament is happening a day after Anita Among withdrew her candidature from the Speakership race. She hoped to be consoled with a big position in government, as reported Here.
Meanwhile, in a dramatic twist, Anita Among’s deputy Thomas Tayebwa has survived being axed and President Museveni has endorsed him to keep his job even in the 12th parliament, as reported Here.
