Only Cowards & Evil People Can Circulate ‘Leaked’ Elizabeth Kakwanzi Katanywa Video — UOX Boss

Gideon Nova Kwikiriza, the president of Ugandans on X (UOX), has condemned the circulation of an unverified video whose promoters claim belongs to Western youth MP aspirant Elizabeth Kakwanzi Katanywa. 

The so-called leaked video, which hit social media on Thursday, June 12, has thrust Elizabeth Kakwanzi Katanywa in more limelight — for the wrong reason and over a video she may neither had a hand in its generation nor would want released (assuming she had a hand in its creation).

Some are quick to share the video — verified or not. To this group, UOX President Kwikiriza has no kind words.

Kwikiriza, who is steadily winning acclaim for speaking against injustice and for initiatives like the one to educate late photographer Saad Shots’ child, described the sharing of Elizabeth Kakwanzi Katanywa ‘leaked’ video as “a vile, calculated, and cowardly attack aimed not only at discrediting a young leader but also at intimidating all young Ugandans who dare to dream, speak, and act for change.”

He went on to explain how doctored media are being used by the state against critics. He warned that such acts could worsen digital violence and blackmail among the country’s body politic.

“This can only be done by cowards, uncultured, evil and mentally unstable syc0ph@nts. This isn’t new. The use of private material, doctored content, and character assassination has for years been weaponized, primarily against opposition politicians, activists, and dissenting voices,” Kwikiriza further noted.

“Now, the cancer has spread to devour even those within the NRM’s own ranks. Supporters and candidates aligned with the regime are not spared. That’s how far we have fallen. This is not politics. This is a culture of blackmail and digital violence that has been facilitated and normalized under Museveni’s leadership and NRM.”

It should be remembered that part of the evidence against veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye and his aide Obeid Lutale — in their treason case — are audios that the Besigye camp have dismissed as doctored. (See related reporting Here, There and Over There).

The UOX president believes that the regime’s obsession with power is robbing the young generation of an opportunity for ideological rooting and electoral participation steeped in the battle of policies.

He is also concerned that leaders and institutions have chosen to stay “silent about such vi0lations,” which makes them “become complicit.”

Kwikiriza added, “When power becomes so desperate that it eats its own children, it is clear that we are at a turning point- a time bomb. Instead of engaging in ideological competition and policy based campaigns, we are watching people resort to cheap, degrading tactics.”

He urged the Ugandan youths to neither be silenced nor discouraged.

“What we are witnessing is not strength. it is fear. Fear of a generation that is awake, organized, and unafraid,” he noted. 

“But also do not reduce yourself to a tool of character assassination, blackmail and spreading of evil. The world is watching you and you’ll be greatly punished.”
