One Attacker Killed, Two Locals Shot in Kajjansi Salon Raid

Two people were shot after two armed men raided a salon in Kajjansi. Police is investigating the matter, in which one attacker was killed, as a case of aggravated robbery.

The probe into the raid and shooting are being handled by Kajjansi Police Division.

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says the raid happened at about 6:20 PM on April 11, 2025 in Lweza Cell A, Ndejje in Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality.

Owoyesigyire says that the two men were riding on a motorcycle and had an AK-47 rifle. These armed men broke a car’s windows from which they grabbed bags.

“Two unidentified men on a red Haojue motorcycle (Reg. UGG 774A) attacked a parked Toyota Premio (Reg. UBE 079Z) outside N & M Unisex Salon,” said the deputy spokesperson of KMP.

“Armed with an AK-47 rifle, the suspects shattered the vehicle’s windows and stole two bags.”

Two men tried to confront the attackers. During the confrontation, the two were shot and injured by the armed men.

The shot and injured men have been admitted at Mildmay Hospital and Mulago National Referral Hospital.

“While fleeing, they were confronted by a boda boda rider, Peter Tumwesigye (27), who, along with Abdul Swabur (18), was shot and injured,” Owoyesigyire added.

“Both were taken to Mildmay Hospital; Swabur was later referred to Mulago Referral Hospital.”

One of the attackers was killed by a mob and several items, including an AK-47 rifle.

“A joint effort by boda boda riders, locals, and police led to the pursuit and neutralization of one suspect,” noted Owoyesigyire.

“We commend the swift response of the community and boda boda riders.”

Other recovered items include a red Haojue motorcycle registration number UGG 774A, one cartridge, a national ID suspected to belong to one of the assailants, two mobile phones, a red bag used to conceal firearm, and a black bag with a ring spanner belonging to the victim.

Meanwhile, police has spoken out on reports of the death of Katwe DPC Kamugira after singer Alien Skin’s allegations, and on the delayed or missing police officers’ salaries, as reported Here and There.
