Social media blogger Ashburg Katto has cried foul after failing to get cows President Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni donated to him months ago.
In May 2020, Ashburg Katto and others met Museveni, also the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairman at his farm in Kisozi.
Events promoter Balaam Barugahara arranged the meeting between the head of state and the leading social media blogger of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
At the Kisozi meeting, Ashburg got a laptop to start social media wars against Museveni’s political opponents.
Museveni also donated cows to Ashburg Katto and reportedly accepted his Ghetto Initiative proposal.
“He [Museveni] taught us farming. After teaching us all the basics of farming and rearing cows, the president gave me five cows and he also gave my other team two cows each,” Ashburg Katto said then.
“The president accepted my proposal and it is going to be implemented immediately after this corona lockdown.”
MONTHS LATER, NO COWS
But months since the Kisozi meeting happened, Ashburg Katto has complained about the fulfillment of the promise.
“Dear President Museveni, I won’t ever stop thanking you for the cows you gave me when I visited you in Kisozi earlier this year… But unfortunately when those cows reached Okello House in Kampala they all disappeared like pyuu,” he said.
“I don’t know if they had magic but they disappeared, or maybe they were descendants of Bihogo. Unless they ran away and Cheptegei claimed their gold medal… Anyway, I will tell you all about it when I see you again.”
He has since vowed not to “post anything else until I have got my cows which President Museveni gave me and they got slaughtered from Okello House without my consent.”
Ashburg has been quoted as saying that Museveni had sent the cows but the person supposed to deliver them had stolen them.
“I have been waiting for the cows, from nowhere I am told the President gave the cows to someone and has been waiting for feedback on how the cows are doing. Only to hear the cows were given to someone but they disappeared like magic,” he said.
Apparently, Katto could not readily receive the cows in May 2020 because he had nowhere to graze them from but had now secured land on which to do farming.
