President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has showered his daughter Patience Rwabwogo with praises for saving the people of Luwero from spiritual bondages.
On May 07, Museveni, who previously said he was once a Scripture Union leader during his school days, graced the ‘Light Up Luwero for Jesus Mission Crusade’ organised by his daughter Patience Rwabwogo, a pastor at the Covenant Nations Church.
The president saluted his daughter for helping him return to a place “where I had to put landmines for Obote people but this time, I have come in peace.” Luweero Triangle was the epicenter of President Museveni’s National Resistance Army (NRA) war that began after the controversial 1980 elections which Museveni’s Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM) party lost and claimed it was rigged out.
During the war that lasted five years and consequently catapulted Museveni and his team of bush war fighters into power in 1986, hundreds of thousands of Ugandans were killed.
Museveni prides himself in politically liberating Ugandans from bad and dictatorial regimes such as Idi Amin Dada’s and Apollo Milton Obote’s. He used the Light Up Luwero for Jesus Mission Crusade to praise his daughter and her religious leader-colleagues for spiritually liberating Luwero.
“I thank Patience for being the first Pastor in my whole family tree and for teaming up with Bishop Lwere to come and pray for the people in Luwero, to set them free of the spiritual bondages they had,” said Museveni.
The president also told the people of Luwero that his government still treasures them, further asking them to renew their relationship with the ruling party and government.
“It is not true that the government forgot the people of Greater Luwero. Let us start our relationship between the government and the people of Luwero afresh. We sent some leaders to you who didn’t help much while you also elected leaders who were not helpful. But today, we are starting afresh,” said the former rebel leader.
The president also told Luwero Christians not to sit and pray for miracles, but to rather work hard so that the fruits of their labour can glorify God.
“In the same light, I call upon all of you to work hard especially you Christians. Do not sit and pray for miracle wealth. Work so that you represent God better. Let your light shine before men so that they see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven,” preached Gen Museveni.
President Museveni enjoys a great relationship with his daughters who have stayed away from active politics. For example in December 2020, Museveni and his daughter Natasha Nyinancwende Karugire shared a conversation online, in which daughter teased his father about his ‘Kyamate English.’ (Read Story Here).
