President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has confirmed meeting US ambassador to Uganda Natalie Brown at his country home of Rwakitura in Kiruhura District.
In a short statement issued December 27, Museveni revealed he had met Ambassador Brown and Uganda’s permanent representative to the UN Adonis Ayebare.
“Held a private meeting with the US Ambassador to Uganda, Natalie E. Brown and our Permanent Representative at the UN, Adoniya Ayebare, at my country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhura District. Thanks ambassador for your time,” said Museveni.
But the president didn’t divulge further details on the talks.
Uganda’s opposition politicians have in recent years urged the US to slap sanctions against top government and security officials over alleged police brutality, shrinking democratic space and human rights violation.
They have also severally asked the US to freeze military aid to Kampala.
Ambassador Brown’s visit to Rwakitura happened just 18 days to the January 14 elections.
