President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s government, through the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), has announced a boda boda census.
The boda boda exercise is expected to start tomorrow and end at the close of August 2022.
“Effective Monday 15th August, 2022, KCCA will begin the census for all motorcycles (also known as Boda Bodas) and riders operating in the city. The exercise will run daily from 8am to 5pm until 30th August, 2022,” said KCCA in a notice.
The exercise will also see boda boda riders who have already formalized their operations with Resident City Commissioners (RCCs) update their data.
“Riders shall apply and be counted in their respective divisions of operation. For riders who registered with the RCCs, this exercise will require them to update and re-validate the information provided,” the authority noted.
KCCA has also clarified on the cost of taking part in the census.
This is a free exercise, no one should be charged. All motorcycle owners and riders must participate. Come have your motorcycle counted,” the city authority added.
On the requirements for the census, KCCA noted that boda boda riders will be required to come with duly filled application forms (available at the census centers), National Identity Cards, Letters from LC and Parish Internal Security Officer (PISO), and copies of Log Books.
This exercise will take place at selected centers in the city divisions as shown in the table below:
Nakawa Community Hall for Nakawa Division; Makerere Yellow Primary School, Kawempe Mbogo Primary School, Mpererwe COU Primary School, and St Paul Kyebando Primary School for Kawempe Division; Bat Valley Primary School and Old Kampala Secondary School for the Central Division; Officer’s Mess, Lukuli Play Ground and Kansanga Seed School Play Ground for Makindye Division; as well as Lubaga Division Gardens for Lubaga.
