Edrisah Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo, a celebrated Ugandan singer and senior presidential advisor to President Yoweri Museveni on creatives has alleged that fellow singer and main opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine used to copy some of his songs.
Eddy Kenzo, a BET award winner, used to belong to Fire Base Crew, Bobi Wine’s music group, but would later leave the place he had begun from to start his own crew: Big Talent Entertainment.
Today Eddy Kenzo is not only a presidential advisor on creatives but also the Uganda of the National Musicians Federation (UNMF) and husband to junior minister Phionah Nyamutoro.
His fellow musician Bobi Wine is the president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), the country’s main opposition party, seeking to end Museveni’s nearly four-decade rule.
And Eddy Kenzo is now shaking Bobi Wine’s tables. He has alleged that he left Fire Base Crew because he was tired of seeing his songs or their main lines lifted and pasted in Bobi Wine’s songs.
For example, Eddy Kenzo claimed that Bobi Wine’s ‘Promise’ song has somehow similar lyrics with ‘Yanimba’ in which he teamed with Mikie Wine, Bobi’s brother.
‘Yanimba’ came before ‘Promise’ and Eddy Kenzo gives this as one of the reasons for his allegation that Bobi Wine used to copy his songs.
The other Bobi Wine song Eddy Kenzo says has some nearly similar lyrics and rhythm like his ‘Sonyiwa Muno’ is ‘Wesotinge’ hit.
The allegations have attracted debate on major entertainment channels.
Weeks ago, President Museveni appointed Eddy Kenzo his advisor on creatives and gave him his first assignment. On the other hand, Museveni recently accused Bobi Wine and his NUP of stealing his one million votes in the 2021 elections. (See Details Here and There).
