Muhoozi Speaks of ‘Arresting’ Matembe

A wave of controversy has engulfed Uganda’s political and security establishment after Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, issued a series of fiery social media posts targeting veteran politician and rights advocate Miria Matembe, amid growing online claims surrounding her alleged disappearance and a raid at her residence.

Gen. Kainerugaba published multiple posts on his official social media accounts in which he directly and repeatedly attacked Matembe in highly personal and derogatory language.

In one post, he wrote: “Matembe is NOT my elder! She is an ID10T!”

In another, he stated: “Matembe’s time is OVER! Let her open her STUP1D MOUTH ANYWHERE again!”

He further escalated his remarks, saying: “I have very beautiful young daughters. I can’t have ID!OTS like Matembe anywhere near theM.”

In another post, Muhoozi wrote: “I hear there is a woman called MATEMBE. She thinks she is anything other than a very OLD, UGLY woman? I’m going to teach her the manners her many husbands should have taught her!”

The posts quickly circulated online, drawing widespread attention and intensifying already heightened public debate about Matembe’s current situation, which has not been independently confirmed by authorities.

It was this post that complicated the issue of Miria Matembe’s whereabouts: “I am going to arrest her today. Mzee hardly thinks of ID10TS like her.”

Reports of Disappearance and Alleged Raid

The comments come against a backdrop of unverified but widely shared reports on social media alleging that Matembe had not been seen publicly in recent days, with some claims suggesting she may have been briefly held or that security personnel had raided her home.

These reports have not been officially confirmed by Ugandan security agencies.

Human rights observers and online commentators have called for clarity from authorities, urging transparency regarding her whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident. However, no formal statement has been issued confirming either a disappearance or an arrest.

Matembe, a former Minister of Ethics and Integrity, has long been a prominent critic of governance practices in Uganda and has frequently spoken on issues of corruption, rule of law, and women’s rights.

Her outspoken positions have often placed her at odds with senior figures in government and the security establishment.

Miria Matembe has previously warned that Norbert Mao would be Muhoozi’s vice president in a move that even some prophets have predicted where son would take over from father. (See Details Here, There and Over There).

Meanwhile, NTV Uganda and Spark TV have been switched off and Daily Monitor shut down on Muhoozi’s orders, as reported HERE.
